Sunny San Francisco

This past weekend Lee and I just couldn't say indoors. It was just so sunny and warm, you just HAD to be outside enjoying it! That's when we decided that it would be really fun to head into San Francisco for the day.

Lee and I enjoying the market

We started off at the Farmers Market. I just love markets! It could be the fact that I love sampling things; namely: almonds (in all flavors), peanut brittle, pears, hummus, bread and oil, crazy fruit you don't even know what it is etc. (I do try and stay clear of cheese. It's just bad news if you get a gross one.) I actually bought some squash while there. I have not had squash in forever, and Lee had never had it, so I just NEEDED to get some. I had no idea how to cook it or anything, so thanks mom for helping with that!
Me and the squash we bought

Lee being cute

Then we went down to the Fishermen's Wharf for some clam chowder in sourdough bread. We had been wanting this ever since we got back form Washington (June) when we had it there. It was ever so tasty. For not being such "fish" people, it's funny that we like it so much.

It was just a little sunny....
so, so, good!

After that we headed to the park and enjoyed all the soccer teams playing, people running, biking, walking, those playing volleyball. We ended up walking to the beach and sat there for a while thinking how nice it was that we were not the people jumping waves wearing jeans. That is the worst, wet jeans. It was just nice to be out.

The Bay

But today, it is cooler. I think that it was a good thing that we took the opportunity to go into the city when it was still warm (and also not windy).

If you were wondering...

YES! they are still whining.
Sore losers. It's getting old.

Lucky for Lee we were in the parking garage...
HE did not want to get beat up for MY thumbs town.

If you don’t have a bowling name, you should get one.

FYI mine is…

Striker

…now when you come up with your name remember it needs to be intimidating. Come on-this is bowling. Your name up on that screen is half the game. It is not your fault that the ball is heavy and somehow your lane leans to the left, but the name you picked!

I have not been bowling in forever! We ended up going the other week and it was really fun. I forgot the joys of smoke, beer, and shoe smell. Oh, and watching those around you is entertainment at its best. We all had good games-even little Kya.

Posting about this reminded me:
Ace I still owe you a copy of the bowling scrapbook page. Sorry.

Wow, that was a close one.

Proposition 8-Same-Sex Marriage Ban

Total Reporting:99%

Yes: 5,359,110 52%
No: 4,867,034 48%

It's been a long/close battle and I'm getting even more tired waiting for it to hit 100%.

I'm calling it good.

Glad it's done.

Good job everyone for working so hard!

Feels good to come out ahead!

Don't Mess with the Coop's.

On my run this morning I was coming out of a neighborhood where I saw a guy had parked his SUV and was walking towards the main road toward a "YES on 8" sign. I decided to investigate. I stopped running and started walking towards his car (I was going to get his license plate--you better believe it!)…

Next thing you know he turns around and gets back into his car and does a U-turn. I stop stand on the corner (where another YES sign is placed) “pretending” to stretch…

As I’m waiting for him to go through the light he starts to roll down his window…

I take out my ipod, because I can tell he is trying to say something to me. Next thing you know he is asking me “do you have a problem?” I answer back “no.” He then says something about “what are you doing?” I said, “I just thought you were about to steal those signs and wanted to catch you if you did.” He then says, “so what if I was?” Then he called me a “biggot.” I said back to him, “no I’m not.” Then he said, “You are is you support that Proposition.” It was too bad that the light then turned green so all I could do was say (very sarcastically) “ OUCH.”

But you know what…when I left for work-BOTH of the signs were still up! That made me happy.

And on my run I put up another sign that had been knocked down. That made me feel even better for standing up to him.

Happy Voting Day!!

Sprinting to the Finish

While Lee is out fighting the war (aka putting up YES on prop 8 signs all over the city), I thought I would quickly get a blog in…

This past weekend has been a busy one. I don’t think that we have had a chance to stop. Halloween night was fun. We went to Chris and Jenny’s house for some pizza, treats, and E.T. We had already gone to two Halloween parties, so we were boring and didn’t dress up. I did paint my nails orange and had on Halloween colors--if that counts.

We woke up on Saturday and went running. I just love running in the fall. The leaves are all over the ground and there is a little breeze. The temperature is perfect. And fact you don’t have to wear a long sleeved shirt is the best. Plus, I got a few rain drops on me, and I like that.

At 10 we headed down the corner to stand out with Prop 8 signs. It was awesome! Last weekend we had a lot more cars drive by because of soccer games and maybe the fact that it was not the morning after a holiday, but we still got a lot of honks for YES! A couple in our ward dressed up as a bride and groom and stood on the corner waving their signs. It is great standing out supporting a good cause. And it is so rewarding all the waves, thumbs-up, and honks, that make all the work we have done for this to pass worth it! I love it because as someone is flipping you off there are at least three other cars honking for you! The same thing went with phone calls, you could get get a NO person and just someone saying YES on another call busted your spirits knowing that are those people out supporting the issue too.

Well about an hour and a half into it there was a DOWNPOUR!! No, we didn’t leave. We just stood out there like the “crazy” people we are and had us and our sings getting soaked. We were determined to stay until 12, like we said we would, and we did! Wet, but feeling good about doing it.

After that we ran home, changed, and got back into the truck to help some friends move. We drove to Oakland and had to load everything in the back seats of the truck because it was pouring rain. We somehow got the mattresses in the bed of the truck in a huge tarp, but the other stuff was going to have to wait. The rain was just coming down.

Then it was back to SR to pass out door hangers. When we got home the weather was nice…but that didn’t last long. We got started on our route and then the rain came. We were told they needed to be out that day, so we walked in the rain putting flyers on doors. One lady I handed it to was like “you didn’t pick the best day to do this.” Again, we were just on another determined job. We did all 100 and felt good about it (mind you these are not people all on the same street—we are given addresses to find and put them on their doors). And it went a lot faster then we thought.

Then it was home again to change. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then it was off to see High School Music 3. Lee gave in a saw this with me and his sister Kenzie. I had been to enough action packed movies that I think he felt like he owed me. (Which he probably did.) But it was fun to see a really cheesy movie and to have the girls going crazy. Ha.

Today was a great day at church. The testimony meeting was wonderful. The Sunbeams were very cute. We did a lesson on music and they were just singing primary songs all day. They didn’t even realize that we didn’t take a break to get drinks or go on a walk around the church.

Then Lee and I took a quick nap, and then wrote in our Journals about our experiences doing Prop 8. It has been a really great experience. We have loved knowing that we are supporting the right thing and that we are following the prophet. It has been great to get to know more people in our ward and to be able to stand up for what we believe in.

Tonight we went to dinner at the Cooper’s. We had a wonderful dinner. More talk on Prop 8 (you can tell that is all anyone talks about these days…) Afterward we went around Dublin with Lee’s family and put up some YES on 8 signs. It was really a nice day.

Then tonight Lee is out with the guys. I have gone in the past to put signs around the city, but it seems like a lot of the men in the ward wanted to join in the effort. It has been great to have such a great husband who volunteers for anything and everything. It is great to know that I have a husband who will follow the prophet and will not only do what is asked of him, but also, ask if there is anything else that needs to be done. I just love him so much. I really hope and pray that this Proposition passes! It has been great experience for our family, and one that I will never forget.

But I do have to ask the question "Is it Tuesday yet??"

Please Vote YES on Prop 8!!!!!
