pink.

Yesterday I decided to paint my fingernails (fingertails--as Sammy my niece would say) pink. I don't paint them very often because they just get chipped and then you spend all this time trying to scrape off the polish, but for some reason I did it. Well, today I was heading out on my run and I just had to laugh because I felt like I was wearing a lot of pink. I guess I just like the color. I should have ran back inside and put on my pink tank top...next time.

July 31, 1979? 1980?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY POTTER!!

For some strange reason I have never forgotten that Harry's birthday falls today...July 31st. So, I thought I would just wish him a very happy birthday. And at the same time give you guys some random facts about it...

How Old Is Harry Anyway?

J. K. Rowling has told us that Harry's birthday is July 31, which happens to be her birthday, too. But what year was Harry born?

Near the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone it says that "tomorrow, Tuesday, was Harry's eleventh birthday." July 31 doesn't fall on a Tuesday very often. Most readers of that first book assumed that, because it was published in 1997, Harry attended Hogwarts during the 1990s. In 1990, July 31 fell on a Tuesday. This would mean that Harry was born in 1979 and would turn 23 in 2002.

But wait—this theory is contradicted by evidence in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,

Anyway, does it matter exactly when the books take place? They are, after all, fantasy. Maybe there are contradictory dates because time doesn't pass exactly the same way in the books' world as it does in ours. Or maybe calendars in the land of fantasy don't have to follow our rules! in which Harry helped celebrate Nearly Headless Nick's deathday anniversary on October 31, 1992. Harry was 12 at that time. So this would mean that Harry was born in 1980, and that he would turn 22 in 2002.

....WOW! Crazy people that go into all that trouble to find that out. Anyways, I hope that you have a good day. And if you feel up to making a cake you can. But I think I'll just have some ice-cream tonight.

Doc Martens

--A Post for Ann--

Remember these? I pulled them out of my closet the other day and thought of you. Twelve years...can you believe it?! Every time I see them I can't believe how big my feet were in 7th grade! Well, it is a sad day because I think that I am going to be sending them to the DI. I love them, but I hardly ever wear them. Maybe once a year. I just wanted to give you ONE last chance to say if you want them or not. I know that you are in Thailand for the summer...but I would keep them just for you. I just know how you love how loose they are, how the right foot strap no longer stays up, and how the pinky toe shows...all reasons to want to keep them for another twelve years! But I didn't want to get rid of something that was half yours without your approval. It's just too bad that we don't share the same room anymore to share clothes! Love you sis!

This weeks project.

Lee and I were given this lovely coffee table when we got married from some good family friends, the Bushell's. We have loved it! It has mostly been used as a tv stand, but since the new purchase of our entertainment center, it has been moved from holding our tv, to now enjoying feet and whatever else gets placed on it. I decided that I wanted it try something new with it. I painted it black and did a little antiquing. This picture does not do it justice tho. We have loved its new look. Thanks dad for helping with the paint!! And thanks Rich and Stacey!

My New Kicks.

Well, they finally showed up. My new running shoes.

Our friends, the Wright's, get Asic shoes for half off and I jumped on it. My very favorite shoes to run in are Asics. It just so happened that the shoes I ordered first were discontinued, but they gave me an upgrade for the same price. It was then time to wait for them to show up in the mail. Months later I opened the box to find these beauts. Cool huh? I have not yet ran in them, but I think that I can already tell I will like them. So happy running day for me!

Weekends are so Lucky!

This is Lucky our bamboo. Lucky's home is usually in the bathroom, but on Saturday morning you can see Lucky in this location...in the kitchen. Lee thinks that it's good for Lucky to have the weekends to see some real sunlight. I laugh because without fail Lucky is moved back and forth. I'm glad that Lee likes the bamboo so much because I don't even have to worry about giving it water.
We only have two plants that have survived...Lucky and the Jenna plant. We tried another plant for the corner of our room, but the bigger plants might be too much for us, that one died. Oh well, I guess for now the two we have make us happy. So, I hope that you had a Lucky weekend!

Fastest Beauty in San Ramon!

Today is a great day! My little cutie was a bit nervous about her first race in about two years. It was a little overcast and slightly cold. When she completed registration, I think the butterflies kicked into full gear. We walked over to the starting area and waited for the San Ramon 4th of July Fun Run to begin. Allie had committed to the 10k race and didn’t know how interested she was in running hard. I was told that she would probably just run normal. Well, to my surprise, at the 5k mark Allie was in 5th place overall, and the 1st placed woman in the race. The announcer must have heard her fans cheering so loud, that he announced this over the PA system and called her out by name and her time as she passed us. My pathetic husband heart couldn’t take the shock of Allie’s competitive nature kicking into gear and putting her into such a position in the race. I knew she wouldn’t give up her position to any other female racer, so I got even more excited. When she made the final turn onto the straight away, I knew she had victory. I believe that she finished the race in the 6th spot overall and 1st with respect to the women. She is my little 39 minute bullet! I love this girl to pieces and couldn’t be more proud. HAPPY 4th of July. Now I get to take her and celebrate her win with some fireworks! This is such a great day….super great day!
