Back East Trip: Palmyra, NY

After seeing Niagara Falls we went back to the hotel, got ready for the day, and made our way to Palmyra. That afternoon we were able to visit: the Hill Cumorah, the print shop of the Book of Mormon, and the Palmyra temple. That night we went to a diner "downtown" and had some ice cream back at our hotel.

I have to add in as we were leaving dinner someone asked, "Where did you guys go on vacation? Your kids are so tan!" We had a good laugh and said we were ON vacation. I think Zachary can be asked that question all year long with his olive skin.

The next morning we went to the Smith Farm. We all really enjoyed the tour here. The kids were awesome and loved the cabins. They were super good for the stories and testimony's given.
I'm sure the spirit would have been a little stronger without little kids, but my testimony of Joseph Smith was strengthened still. It is amazing to see and hear the stories (even those you already know) and know that it is true.

We wanted to let every one in our tour group get WAY a head before we went in the Sacred Grove. The kids LOVED the little stream right outside of it, and we played there for a long time. They loved watching the sticks go from one side to the other. That game always reminds me of Winnie the Pooh and "Poohsticks."

The Grove looked different from all the pictures you see full of leaves, but it totally made sense seeing how it was Spring.  We did a small walk. And had to have a little laugh when Jane stopped to let her baby walk.

Our last church history stop was to the Whitmer farm where the church was formally organized. It was a quick trip, but again, a stop that was well worth taking!

Back East Trip: Niagara Falls

Our first stop was Niagara Falls. We got in super late (a layover delay in NV) that we didn't know if we were even going to get our rental car. We got lucky because I guess three other people on the plane had reservations, so they stayed open late! Yay! The kids were super awesome on the plane and at being up so late. It was nice that when looking at the clock at 2am when we finally did get into the hotel, it was really only 11pm to us! The kids slept in until 9:40 when we woke them to get breakfast before they closed.

We knew we were taking our chances going to Niagara in the Spring time and that chances were that it would be raining. Which it was, but we had fun anyways. We brought our rain coats, umbrellas, and hats to be prepared. It's totally one of those "bucket list" things, and now we can say we have seen it (or at least what we could see of it). We went over to the Canada side. I think going to Canada made Zachary's whole trip. He loves Canada and every picture we took (for the entire trip) we all needed to say "Canada!"

Over all pretty impressive. The rain, cold, and steam made it an adventure. But we were super happy we made it a part of our trip.
