Easter Weekend
Friday was a great day! Lee only had to work a half day. That means that he got to work at about 7 and left at about 2. I ended up being able to leave my work early, around 3. We ended up going out to an early dinner at a yummy Mexican restaurant and then headed over to our friend’s house to baby-sit their two kids while they went to a company dinner. We had a fun night playing.
Saturday morning was our ward’s Eggstravaganza. Lee and I are on activities committee, so we were in charge of the cup cake decorating table. Not a bad job to have. We enjoyed watching the kids pile as much “junk” on top of their cupcakes as they could. There is nothing like a little sugar for breakfast.
Lee and I decided that it would be fun to do a little egg dyeing. It was funny because neither of us really knew how to boil the eggs. We actually had to look it up in the Betty Crocker Cookbook. (If you know anything about my mom…before I can call her for any advice about cooking, I better have checked with Betty.) We figured it out and had a successful egg dyeing session. We felt like little kids again being impatient waiting for them to sit in the dye (and the Dora cups I’m sure didn’t help out).

We also made some sugar cookies that night for our Sunbeams and friends. We were so happy that they turned out good. The frosting is always scary for me. But Betty saved the day again!

Easter was an eventful day. We think that our Sunbeamers had a little too much candy that morning because they were bouncing off the walls. But, we got the Easter lesson in, and at least they know that Jesus came back in “three” days (I’m sure they only remembered that because they are all three and can show us it on there hand.).

St. Patrick's Day

I have been looking forward to St. Patrick’s day ever since we moved out to
It was just really fun to get out and celebrate the holiday. I was happy that I could wear my new green socks and new necklaces! Oh, and the candy made me happy.

Carpool Theives

As I sit in traffic EVERY day, I watch all the carpool lane cheaters go past me. Over that last few months, I have just wanted to sit there with a camera and take pictures of every cheater's license plate and send it to the CHP. I realize, of course, that simply sending a picture the CHP will not punish any of the cheaters, but it might help them realize that a MILLION people along I-80 in Berkeley/Emryville are cheaters! I also made two generalizations today thinking how stupid the people are for cheating.
1. The people were usually in nice/tricked out cars (I saw a Porsche Boxter, like 12 Escalades, a few Mercedes E-class, and the "Oakland" thugs with their 22's). The generalization I made about this group was the "Elite." They must assume that they are so important that they can float down the carpool lane, without qualifying for the carpool status. They must also assume that they are in a greater "hurry" to get home than the other 25,000 of us stuck in the 5 lanes to the right of their special "Elite" lane. I was thinking how my buddy Tom would love to sit on one of the overpasses and snipe people's tires, in order to teach them a lesson. Just thinking of all the "Elite" with flat tires helped me feel better.
2. The second generalization is "white-trash", "ghetto" and "illiterate." This second group is special. I think I decided that this group just couldn't read the signs, or that the signs were not in their native language and so it must not apply to them. Their cars were a collection of cars that have been revived from the dump, or stolen from the front yard of a neighbor who has kept the car up on blocks for the last 15 years. This pathetic group made me think how glad I am to have an education and drive decent cars.
I would love to hear from any of you "bloggies" about your carpool experiences. I hope this somehow helps brighten your traffic frustrations! Happy Thursday to you. With love, Lee.
