We took Z to the store to pick one out. He was super excited to ride the bikes around all the stores with training wheels and peddling was not a problem. We picked out a bike we thought he could grow into, but could still barley touch when he was stopped. Lee put it together and we didn't show him that it came with training wheels.
Well, I have to say a balance bike is the way to go! He was able to ride his bike the first day. The only problem really was he needed someone to run with him (or have us spread out so he was riding back and forth to the two of us) to be able to start and stop him. He didn't understand how to back peddle to stop. It took about two weeks to get it so he was comfortable stopping by just riding up on the grass. And he could break a little but was not very fast and didn't do it very hard. He could start riding on his own going super slow. It was amazing. His balance was really good! I was worried my back was going to kill all summer from running along side him, but I never really had to help him much.
We have enjoyed bike rides all summer long. It has been really fun. He loves to ride it. And will go up and down the street (on the sidewalk). He loves to "cruise" with us (which means go really fast!). He will sometimes go riding while Lee runs. And he really likes to have us ride to the park and around the school blacktop. He has just started to do "tricks." He now will take his feet off the peddles when going down hill. It's cute to see how proud he is of himself. And he gets a lot of complements from people about loving the green color. :)

She grew out of it so fast! Like within a month. Totally why I had to post the picture. It's too funny.
